 Stud Bolts are externally threaded fasteners without a head, used with 2 nuts on either side, substituting a usual “bolt & nut” assembly.

Stud bolts and Rod ends come in a variety of diameters and lengths. We carry them in coarse and fine thread. Listed below are the diameters we carry:

Used in high pressure bolting situations for the pipeline, drilling, petroleum/petrochemical refining, and general industry for sealing and flange connections all thread, tap end, and double end stud bolts are the lion’s share of the industry. The all-thread stud bolt is a threaded rod with 2 heavy hex nuts, while the tap end and double end are nut continuously thread, but have a body in the middle with one nut. In a tap end the short end of the stud bolt is designed with a UNC 3A fit to go into a tapped hole on the body of a larger machined or forged equipment.

Stud bolts are primarily used for permanent connections in mining machinery, bridges, automobiles, steel structure buildings, and more

Stud bolts are prominently used in flange connections.
Depending upon their design and threading patterns, there are different types of stud bolts as below.

  • Continuous Threaded Stud Bolts (Fully Threaded Studs without Chamfered Ends):Stud Bolts with uniform threads over the length are termed as continuous thread stud bolts. This type usually does not carry a chamfered end.
  • Tap End Stud Bolts:Stud Bolts with unequal length of threads at extreme ends with non-threaded center.
  • Double End Stud Bolts:Stud Bolts with unequal length of threads at extreme ends with non-threaded center.
  • Double End Stud Bolts with Reduced Shank:Stud Bolts with equal thread lengths at either end with center reduced further than the actual diameter of the stud.
  • Flange Stud Bolts (Fully Threaded Studs with Chamfered Ends):This category stands exclusive for studs bolts used in flange connection with continuous thread over the length and chamfered ends. The theoretical length is measured from its first to last thread unlike regular “Continuous Thread Stud Bolts”.
  • Welding Studs:Unlike others, these are welding studs used with nut on one side and welded to the support on the other. Primarily manufactured as per DIN 525.

Considering the shape of a stud, these are categorized into three basic types: Fully Threaded Stud. Tap-End Stud. Double-End Stud.

The stud bolt is a metal rod or shaft with threads on both sides. .. Studs are headless fasteners with external threads. In other words, we can say that one end of the stud is connected to the tapered part and the other end is connected to a standard nut

Studs provide the ability to obtain much more accurate torque values because the studs don’t twist during tightening as do bolts. Because the studs remain stationary during nut tightening, the studs stretch in one axis alone, providing much more even and accurate clamping forces

Because the stud is torqued from a relaxed state, the pressure from the nut will make it stretch only along the vertical axis without a concurrent twisting load. The result is a more evenly distributed and accurate torque load compared to that of the head bolt.

Studs are measured parallel to the axis(L) from the first to the thread without the chamfers(points)
